2008 Pennsylvania Trout Award Nominations
Pennsylvania Trout is now accepting nominations for its annual awards, to be presented at the fall membership meetings at the Fall Membership Meeting on Sunday, October 3 - 5, 08.

Edward J. Urbas Award for Best Pennsylvania Chapter To be awarded to the chapter whose efforts for the year best exemplify the Trout Unlimited mission overall, from projects to outreach to conservation of the coldwater resource.
Best Chapter Project This award will recognize the best chapter stream or watershed improvement project. Factors to be considered are the restoration of a coldwater fishery, achievement of public support in the project area and/or the innovative nature of the project itself.
Outstanding Coldwater Conservationist (TU Member This award will be presented to the outstanding Pennsylvania Trout member who through his or her individual efforts served as the catalyst for chapter success or the advancement of the Trout Unlimited mission generally.
Outstanding Coldwater Conservationist (Professional This award will be presented to the resource professional who through his or her work has excelled in helping facilitate the Trout Unlimited mission. The recipient may be from PF&BC, DEP, DCNR, USFWS, NRCS, academia or any agency or group charged with the caretaking of Pennsylvania’s coldwater resources. Nominees need not be TU members.
Ken Sink Memorial Award for Outstanding Service to Pennsylvania TU This award is not presented every year. It is a high honor reserved for individuals who have made long-term, significant contributions to the Trout Unlimited mission through their work with the Pennsylvania State Council.
Best Chapter Website Award This award was originated in 2002 by the Pennsylvania Trout Council to recognize the chapter that best utilizes this important communication tool. It will be judged on ease of access, news content, appearance and ease of connection with other state and national TU chapters. Nominations go to PATU Webmaster Chaz Macdonald.
Chapter with the Greatest Membership Increase This award is based on total membership increase for the previous year, from July 1 through June 30. This and the next award will be determined from National TU data.
Chapter with the Greatest Percentage Membership Increase This award is based on percentage membership increase for the previous year, from July 1 through June 30, i.e. increase relative to the number of chapter members.
Samuel Slaymaker Award for the Best Chapter Newsletter The Slaymaker Award recognizes the best Pennsylvania chapter newsletter. Criteria are design, appearance, and content. To nominate a newsletter, send at least three recent issues to Jeff MulHollem at 701East 1st Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
Dr. Jack Beck Award for Outstanding Youth Outreach This award, first given in 1999, is presented to the Pennsylvania chapter with the best established program and activities for bringing the Trout Unlimited mission to our youth. Nominations for the Jack Beck Award go to Mike Makufka, 911 West Weber Ave., DuBois, PA 15801 Mike Makufka.
